On October 3 Advocates will welcome Felicia R. Lozon as an associate lawyer.
Felicia joins us after practicing in Ottawa with a large national firm. Felicia completed law school in 2020 after graduating with a mechanical engineering degree and working for a year in that field at 3M in London.
We are excited by the synergies that Felicia’s training and experience will bring to our clients’ needs.
We are also pleased to announce that Alicia Devos is now a Certified eDiscovery Specialist (CEDS). The CEDS process is administered by the Association of Certified eDiscovery Specialists (ACEDS) and requires 40 plus hours of training culminating in a four hour proctored examination. Alicia has been part of our team since December 2019 and has been responsible for managing various important firm projects. And we are excited to be able to announce our most important technology project yet.
In response to the ever-increasing volume of electronic records in litigation and third party vendor costs to manage that data, we have now implemented an in-house eDiscovery offering. We have licensed our own instance of iCONECT’s best-in-class “AI” enabled eDiscovery software and installed it at a Canadian data centre. By going straight to the vendor, Advocates is able to offer both reduced total cost and cost certainty to our clients without compromising the quality of the tool or the security and integrity of our client’s data. We are also able to provide client’s real time access to their data once it is in iCONECT via a user-friendly web interface, simplifying preparations for examinations for discovery and the process of answering undertakings.
